The purchase of land and/or a home is a significant acquisition in a person's lifetime.  The most important document in a real estate transaction is the purchase contract since that instrument governs the rights of the parties throughout the real estate transaction.  All of the parties' obligations flow from that real estate contract.  Generally the buy-sell agreement is the first legal document executed.  Legal assistance is most effective at the beginning of a transfer of property, beginning with the purchase/sale contract.

Real estate may involve income producing property - commercial and/or residential leases.  If the terms of the lease are violated, evictions and/or collection of past due rent are the result.

Easements, rights of way, boundary matters, and zoning are other examples of real estate issues.
